Speaking in Dar es Salaam on Thursday, the newly elected TASOTA chairman, Mustafa Khataw, said the organization plans to re-launch its website which would enhance communication between members and other stakeholders.

“As you understand today’s world communicates online, we will activate our website to ease communication between members and non members in tourism related matters,” he said.

He said the organizations will establish a secretariat with a full time executive secretary that will be in charge of day to day activities. He said his main role will be a liaison between the travel agents, government and other hospitality companies overseas.

According to him, another strategy is the establishment of conference facility which will be used by its members at affordable rates.

“We intend to have our own conference hall which is a source of income for the association’s welfare,” he said.

Khataw, who is also the managing director of Syklink Travel and Tours, said the organization plans to introduce a training programme in customer care services for travel agents staff members.

He said the main objective of the training is to instill professionalism in the travel industry especially in dealing with customers. He also said TASOTA plans to conduct massive tourism promotion in Southern circuit to improve the economy and welfare of stakeholders.

At the moment we have invited officials from Tanzania Tourists Board (TTB) to brainstorm priority areas for promotion. He said Southern circuit has a lot of untapped potentials which need aggressive promotion.

“We have areas such as Msimbati in Mtwara region, the ruins of Kilwa in Lindi region and we are sure that if they get promotion, more tourists will visit the areas,” he stressed.

He urged members to provide co-operation with the leaders for the development of the organization and the economy as a whole.
